Feb 20, 2009. ABC Amber QuattroPro Converter is an advanced utility which helps you convert your WQ1, WQ2, WKQ (Corel QuattroPro) files to any format you wish (XLS, DBF, CSV.
After using WP software for a couple of years, I tried OpenOffice software and liked it so I deleted my WordPerfect software to free up some disk space. My problem is that OO won't open my old Quattro Pro files with the extension.qpw. I can't find a file converter on the net that does this either. I don't have the WordPerfect CD so can't just reinstall. Does anyone know of a freeware.qpw to.xls file converter? If not, can I download the WP software from somewhere on this site?
Thanks fellow Dellians!
It is a wb3 file and the version of Quattro Pro is version 7 for Windows. I tried the download WKHays suggested. It would not install, as it said I didn't have Excel 97 installed. The download page referred to another download, for Excel 2000 users. That download installed, however, the wb3 file type did not appear in the Files of Type drop down list (in opening a file from Excel/Works), as it should have after the download. The version I am using is MS Works 6.0.
My guess is that there is another download available somewhere on Microsoft's site. The Superbowl is starting shortly, so I will not be able to experiment further until tomorrow night. MSWorks is generally a dog to work with. In true M$ style it has its own proprietary file formats and little integration with other apps. One solution is to 'save down' that is take the QP files and save them to a very old format such as.wk1. You may have to do each page separately. If I remember correctly MSWorks can import these old lotus files, if not see what it can import from and what QP can export to, and find a common format.
Another solution is the standard 'stupid MS' approach. Open the QP file, select and copy an area, then paste it into the MSWorks file. You may loose formulae and some formatting but the common stuff will stay. If you find you are losing too many of your 'fancier' formulae and functions then you will probably find that MSWorks is inadequate for your purposes and you should ditch it in favour of a full suite, MS (ugh!)or Corel (YEH! Download Da Discografia Do Oficina G3 there. ). Cheers rosethorn.
