You are here: >>>Changing music fonts If you choose not to use one of Finale’s default fonts, Maestro or Broadway Copyist, you can substitute any other music font. To change music fonts • Choose Document >Set Default Music Font. The Font dialog box appears. • Choose the new font and style; click OK twice. Depending on the music font you’ve selected, you may have to fine-tune the positions of individual elements, such as the eighth-note flags. For details, see. To change positioning of other individual elements, select their corresponding category in the Document Options dialog box. If you want to change other elements to another font, such as JazzText or JazzCord, continue with the instructions below.

• Choose Document >Data Check >Font Utilities. The Font Utilities dialog box appears. • Select the text font you want to change by clicking the top Set Font button. Select the text font you want by clicking the bottom Set Font button. For example, select Times New Roman mixed sizes and styles for the Search For font and Jazz Text mixed sizes and styles for the Replace font. • To change chords, choose Document >Document Options >Fonts.

The Font options appear. • Choose Chord >Symbol. Click Set Font and choose JazzCord or the desired chord font. • Click OK (or press ENTER) twice.

• Click the Chord tool. The Chord menu appears. • Choose Chord >Change Chord Suffix Fonts. • To change the entire library of chord suffixes at once, click the Set Font button in the lower half of the screen. The Font dialog box appears, letting you specify new font, size, and style characteristics for the suffixes. For best results, be sure that the Fix Chord Suffix Spacing checkbox is selected, so that Finale automatically adjusts the individual characters in each chord suffix to compensate for the new font and size. • Select a type style, and then click OK.

You return to the document, where Finale has changed the font for your chord suffixes. Finale is smart enough, however, not to change any musical symbols within the suffix, such as the f in F7 f9.

Hello All, According to page 290 of Sibelius First Reference. Free Mercedes Ecu Software. pdf, 'Opus Chords Sans is a sans serif font and is the default in house styles that use Arial as the main text font.' When I choose any House Style that uses Arial as the the main text font, only Opus Chords and/or Opus PlainChords (serif fonts) display in the score, instead of the correct fonts (Opus Chords Sans or Opus Chords SansCondensed). Chords display correctly as they are being typed.

As soon as I tab or 'space over' to enter the next chord symbol, the last chord entered reverts to a serif font. I've checked Macintosh HD >Library >Fonts. All the Sibelius.otf font files, including the Opus family, appear to be present. The other chord font options, Inkpen2 and Reprise, are behaving just fine.

I've quit Sibelius and restarted my computer. I also tried copying the Opus fonts to Macintosh HD >MyUserName >Library >Fonts, but that wasn't the fix (and none of the other Sibelius fonts were in that folder, anyway). Perhaps this is a simple fix, but I’m stumped. (Searched this forum and the web for an answer, but didn't find.) Does anyone out there have any advice? Jim This is not related to your query but you are obviously acquainted with the product, so I am taking the liberty of asking for your advice on my problem. I have been around computer software for more that 50 years but I am brand new to Sibelius First. I cannot get Titles to print on the instrument parts. Blundering through the system i notice that the editing facility is not activated. Why might that be and how might I overcome it? I am in the UK - London.

Might this be a regional problem? Ron Posted by - 01 May 12:06PM. Hello All, I'm reposting my original, still unanswered question. When I create a new score and select any House Style that uses the Arial font, the chord font in the score presents as a serif font, not the Opus Chords Sans that should appear by default (according to page 290 of the Sibelius First Reference pdf manual). Manually selecting the chords and applying a different font from the drop-down menu doesn't work, either. Is there anyone out there who can help me with this issue?

Thanks, Sibelius 7 First Mac OS 10.7.4 Lion Posted by - 26 Nov 08:57PM. Here's the deal. If you create such a score in First and read it into full Sibelius, you will find that the Chord Symbol test style uses the serif Opus Chords Std, not the sans variant. If you create the same score in full Sib, it also uses Opus Chords Std. So I would expect the programs to use the same house style files, and it is probably an error in documentation, or maybe the house styles just got changed incorrectly. In full Sib, you can change the font for the Chord Symbol text style and export a new House Style that uses it, but that is not available in First.

First can import house styles, though, so if you have only a few such styles that you want the change for, and know someone with full SIbelius, you could have them create a new score in a given house style, change the font for Chord Stmbols,a nd export a house style for you. You need to put the house style file in your *user* house styles folder. In Windows 7, my folder is at C: Users Bob AppData Roaming Avid Sibelius 7 First House Styles You might have to create these folders, as First does not really use them much. If there are really only a few you need, you could tell us here which ones you want and someone would likely be able to make them up for you. -- Bob Sib 1.2 - 7, Windows 7 Pro SP 1 64 bit, 4 G RAM.
